Putting human suffering and
dislocation aside, according to the cost estimates
complied by the Army Corps of Engineers and
others, we have sustained economic losses between
$3-$4 billion dollars over the past six years from
flooding in the Passaic River Basin. We note that
five of the eight largest floods in at least the
last 110 years occurred in the last six years.
We, the undersigned, strongly urge our Federal and
State elected officials to demand that a solution
to the chronic flooding conditions in the Passaic
River Basin be made a priority in the Presidential
Budget for Fiscal Year 2013.
